Harm minimisation

Harm minimisation has formed the basis of Australia’s National Drug Strategy since its inception in 1985.  Based on the three pillars of demand reduction, supply reduction and harm reduction, it aims to build safe and healthy communities by minimising the hams to individuals, families and communities from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs use.  This approach recognises the benefit of a holistic and a sector wide approach to AOD issues.

ADCA, as the peak national non government body representing the AOD sector, supports harm minimisation and has established the Harm minimisation supporters’ list to allow individuals and organisations to register their support for this approach.
